Benjamin Anderson, MPH, Ph.D., CPH
Dr. Benjamin Anderson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental and Global Health, College of Public Health and Health Professions, and a member of the Emerging Pathogens Institute at the University of Florida.
His research experience and expertise include studying emerging infectious diseases, zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and viral respiratory pathogens using a One Health Approach. Dr. Anderson has considerable laboratory experience in BSL-1 to BSL-3+ environments using serological and molecular diagnostic techniques. He has worked extensively in multiple countries on epidemiology studies looking at infectious disease transmission and its persistence among humans, animals, and their environments. His current work focuses on optimizing bioaerosol and other novel sampling technologies for detecting emerging viruses in infectious disease hot spots and among vulnerable populations with intense contact with animal reservoirs. His work also aims to understand the ecological impacts and transmission of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens in the environment. Dr. Anderson has a strong passion for global health and scientific research capacity building, including developing new collaborative international research networks and implementing laboratory diagnostic infrastructure.
